HIS STORY:
Hachi lived for 10 years in the yard of a house and his future became uncertain when his guardian was due to enter a care facility and the house was to be rented out. Shortly after, his guardian sadly passed away, and no relatives were able to take him in, so he was handed over to the municipality, as the law requires. Fortunately, a solution was found quickly, sparing him from a potentially indefinite stay in a shelter kennel. Today, he is being fostered in a volunteer’s home alongside several other animals, and he is now looking for a permanent family.

In 2023, when he was still living in that yard.

ΧΑΡΑΚΤΗΡΑΣ:
At first, Hachi was a dog who didn’t want much interaction with people (he hadn’t really met many). He would bark at every dog passing outside his yard (he hadn’t encountered any before) and had neither the desire nor the courage to step outside. Even though the gate was sometimes open, he could not imagine taking that step.
During his time in foster care, he has been living with other dogs and a blind cat, remains calm in a crate, and causes no disturbance. While in foster care, Hachi has experienced more than he did in the previous 10 years of his life. He has made huge progress, from needing hours to accept a leash, reacting out of stress and even attempting to bite, to panicking the moment he stepped onto the pavement. Now, he readily accepts the leash, enjoys his walks, does not pull at all, and follows his handler calmly. With people, he is now more open, provided he is approached correctly. Once trust is built, he starts seeking affection and contact. He is a low-energy dog with few demands and can be a wonderful companion for someone looking for calm, peaceful walks.
