HIS STORY:
Just after midnight on June 6th, 2026, one of our volunteers was returning home from work when she heard a kitten crying desperately. Following the sound, she discovered that he was trapped inside a building’s drainage pipe. The Fire Department was called immediately, but in order to proceed with the rescue, the consent and physical presence of the property owner were required. The residents of the building were contacted, but unfortunately none of them were the owners. The Police then became involved in an effort to locate the owner, who was outside of Greece at the time. Eventually, our volunteer had to provide an official statement so that the process for prosecutorial authorization could begin. She remained at the police station until 6 a.m., doing everything she could to ensure the kitten would be rescued as quickly as possible. It is worth mentioning that the kitten had been heard earlier by other people, and an initial investigation had already been carried out by the Fire Department. At the time, it was believed that he was trapped in a manhole, and a cover was simply opened in the hope that he would find his own way out. Unfortunately, no further effort was made to locate and rescue him, resulting in many additional hours of suffering. By the time our volunteer began coordinating a proper rescue effort, it was already midnight, making every step of the process significantly more difficult and time-consuming. Thankfully, a few hours later, the kitten was finally freed. He had become wedged in an extremely difficult location, and the rescue operation proved to be particularly challenging. Sometimes, the difference between life and death is simply one person who stops, listens, and refuses to give up. The little survivor was named Pipe, and he is now looking for a family of his own.

CHARACTER:
Pipe is a happy, lively little cat with a zest for life. He loves to play, whether on his own or with other cats, and always finds new ways to keep himself entertained and explore everything around him. At the same time, he is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented. He actively seeks human companionship, loves being petted, and will often choose to curl up next to you, or even on top of you, for a nap. He’s the kind of cat who wants to be part of your everyday life and stay close to his people.
